  1. Troop Train - Honoring the life of American Hero's

    September 1, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Mini-Train

    Participants will meet at 8am at the Gage Park amphitheater for a one mile march through Gage Park, followed by a ceremony at 10am, and concluding with the first troop departure of WWII Veterans on the mini-train at 11am. The public is encouraged to line the mini-train tracks holding a flag or a sign, and to bring toiletries and nonperishable food items to be donated to the Quincy House.

  2. Huff-N-Puff Balloon Rally

    September 5, 6:00 PM - September 7, 7:30 AM @ Lake Shawnee

    The Great Plains Balloon Club of Topeka will present its annual Huff-N-Puff Balloon Rally at Tinman Circle, Lake Shawnee. Weather permitting, free parking, concessions and restrooms will be available.

  3. Great Topeka Duck Race

    September 6, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Lake Shawnee
    Topeka, KS 66605

    The 19th Annual Great Topeka Duck Race is presented by the Sertoma Clubs of Topeka. A person can “adopt” rubber ducks for as little as $5 each. Proceeds are donated back to the Topeka community through many different organizations. Enjoy festivities all day and cheer on your duck! Need not be present to win, just adopt a duck be¬tween now and 3pm on Sept 5!

  4. Concert at Ted Ensley Gardens

    September 7, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Ted Ensley Gardens

    The Ted Ensley Gardens are located on the west side of scenic Lake Shawnee, offering a great panoramic view. They provide a beautiful, 10 acre setting with a wealth of design ideas and spectacular plantings. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy! Restrooms and parking are available at the Trailhead, 3650 SE West Edge Road.

  5. Central Park Autumn Fest

    September 13, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Central Park Community Center

    Join us for an afternoon of delicious fun. There will be a baking contest, a pie eating contest, games and live music.

  6. Community Garage Sale

    September 13, 10:00 AM @ Hillcrest Community Center

    Get rid of those items you don’t use anymore, make a few new friends, and get a little extra money as well. We’ll have music and special drawings to bring in the public to the beautiful Hillcrest Park. Booth spaces are available. Please call 251-2956 for more information. Pre-registration is required.

  7. Flea Market

    September 20, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Swim Beach

    If you have items to sell, we have the spot for you. You can bring antiques, collectibles, and garage sale items. You must PRE-REGISTER to get your spot. If your name is not on the list for Saturday’s setup, we cannot let you sell your items! The location will be at the Lake Shawnee Beach parking lot. The cost is $15; which gives you two parking stalls. Set up begins at 7am. All of your unsold merchandise must be removed from the park.

  8. Kansas Senior Olympics

    September 24 - September 28

    The 31st Annual Kansas Senior Olympics will take place September 24-28 and Oct. 2-5. Sports include archery, badminton, basketball (3-on-3), bowling, cycling, track and field, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, race walk, racquetball, road race, shuffleboard, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. For registration information, please contact the Kansas Senior Olympics office at 785-251-2975. Athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2015 Summer National Senior Games to be held July 3-16 in Bloomington/Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.
