Spray parks open May 14; pools and aquatic centers open May 28; Gage Park mini-train and carousel begin daily operation May 28
TOPEKA, KAN. – As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Shawnee County Parks + Recreation prepares to open its warm weather amenities:
Dornwood Spray Park, 2500 SE Highland, and Jackson Spray Park SE, 8th and Lake Street
Open: May 14
Hours: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Blaisdell Family Aquatic Center (Closed June 3-5 for Topeka Swim Association Beach Bash)
Midwest Health Aquatic Center
Shawnee North Family Aquatic Center
Open: May 28 (Aquatic centers and pools open Saturday of Memorial Day weekend every year)
Hours: Noon to 7 p.m. daily
Admission: Adults $7, Children (Age 2-12) $6, under age 2 free
Garfield Pool: Age 2 and older $2, under age 2 free
Hillcrest Pool: Age 2 and older $2, under age 2 free
Oakland Pool: Age 2 and older $2, under age 2 free
Rossville Community Pool: $3 for adults (13 and older), $2 for youth (2-12), under age 2 free
Open: May 28
Hours: Noon to 5 p.m.
Lake Shawnee Adventure Cove:
Open: May 28
Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Monday
Paddle boats: $8 one-hour rental
Paddle boards: $8 one-hour rental
Canoes: $8 one-hour rental
Kayaks: $8 one-hour rental
Floating Playground: $8 per person per hour
Gage Park mini-train and carousel:
Open: Weekends until May 28. Daily beginning May 28.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until May 28. Noon-6:30 p.m. starting May 28.
Aquatic Center closure dates:
- Blaisdell Family Aquatic Center will be closed June 3-5 for the Topeka Swim Association’s annual Beach Bash swim meet.
- Midwest Health Aquatic Center will be closed July 31 for Midwest Health’s company day
- Shawnee North Family Aquatic Center will close at 4 p.m. June 29 for the NOTO Rays swim meet.
Shawnee County Parks + Recreation includes nearly 60 miles of trails, 2,696 acres of parks and 320 annual days of sporting activities. In addition, the department offers recreation programs, educational programs and golf. A combination of tax dollars, user fees and private donations enables Shawnee County Parks and Recreation to offer parks, sporting and aquatic facilities with state-of-the art features, and beautiful, nationally recognized gardens.
