TOPEKA, KAN. – Three favorite holiday events are set for the first two weeks of December in Shawnee County Parks + Recreation.
Holiday craft fairs are some of Shawnee County Parks + Recreation’s most popular events. The Holiday Craft Show on Dec. 3 at Crestview Community Center features as many as 50 vendor booths with items from hand-made wooden toys to hand-crafted candles, jewelry, holiday décor and food items. Some 1,500 patrons have attended the show in the past. Admission is free.
The 39th annual Children’s Shopping Spree will be held at the Garfield Shelter from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11. The event features handmade crafts and baked goods, all for under $10. Admission is free. Volunteers are needed to help children shop and to wrap gifts. Shifts are 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Call 785-251-6953 or email email@example.com.
Back for the third year is Old Prairie Town Christmas with fun around every corner including kids making magic reindeer feed in the Lingo Livery Stable, writing letters to Santa in the Pauline Depot, helping an elf delivering gifts on the railroad hand car, pictures with Santa in the Ward-Meade mansion, cookies and cocoa in the Ward Cabin, seasonal music in the Everest Church, and celebrities reading stories in the Victor Schoolhouse.
