    Shawnee County Allied Tribes invites public to experience Native American dancing, crafts, arts, food and educational seminars.

  2. My Catch is Bigger Fishing Tournament

    September 4, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM @ Central Park Community Center

    Come join the Central Park Community Center and the Central Topeka Community in its first evening Fishing Tournament for ages 18+. The person with the biggest fish caught from the Central Park Community Center pond will win the first place prize of $50. Qualified Entries: • Must have a current 2015 fishing license. • Must registered between 7-7:30pm at the centers front desk and receive entry badge.

  3. Huff n Puff Hot Air Balloon Rally

    September 11 - September 13 @ Lake Shawnee Tinman Circle

    The Great Plains Balloon Club of Topeka will present its annual balloon rally weather permitting. Come out and watch the launching and tethering of many beautiful balloons. Free admission and parking, and concessions available. This is a 40 year tradition for Topeka, and proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.

  4. 32st Annual Kansas Senior Olympics

    September 19 - October 4

    The 32st Annual Kansas Senior Olympics will take place September 19-October 4. Sports include archery, badminton, basketball (3-on-3), bowling, cycling, track and field, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, race walk, racquetball, road race, shuffleboard, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.

  5. Helping Hands Humane Society’s Paws in the Park

    September 19, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Hill's Bark Park

    Paws in the Park is the must-attend event for any animal lover. This is the most anticipated pet friendly event in northeast Kansas! The event begins with a one-mile mutt strut through Gage Park. Following the walk, vendors are open for shopping and browsing along with other activities. Throughout the morning, pet contests will be conducted and, for a minimal donation, pancakes and sausage will be served by Perkin's Family Restaurant and Bakery.

  6. OK Kids on the Trail

    September 19, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Shawnee North Nature Trail

    Join Parks + Recreation and Kansas Wildscape for free family fun at Outdoor Kansas Kids Day! All activities take place along the Shawnee North nature trail. Kids along with parents can hike while enjoying stops at the BB Shooting Range, giant nature painting, bird watch scavenger hunt, animal track casting, outdoor sports, and Skins & Skulls. Make yummy Smores at the campsite. This is event encourages families to enjoy healthy activities outdoors.

  7. Civitan Car Show

    September 20, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Gage Park

    The mission of the Civitan Club of Topeka is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. Dash plaques to the first 75 vehicles, trophies for Best Car, Best Truck, Best in Show, and awards from Sheltered Living. Vehicles must be properly registered with State of Kansas or other state, proof of insurance. Proceeds go to the Civitan Day Camp. Music provided and concessions available

  8. Concert at Ted Ensley Garden

    September 20, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Ted Ensley Gardens

    An evening of blues and roots music in a beautiful outdoor setting on the shores of Lake Shawnee. Sponsored by the Friends of Ted Ensley Gardens.

    Shawnee County Parks + Recreation, in partnership with Heartland Visioning, want to know what makes Shawnee County a great place to live or visit. Attend one of the following meetings to share your thoughts and ideas on how to make it even better!

  10. Family Fun Day in the Park

    September 26, 10:00 AM - September 27, 4:00 PM @ Hillcrest Community Center

    This community event is held annually. Parks + Recreation works together with local community groups to honor the family. All activities are geared towards family fun. Bounce houses, car show, food, music, community awards, skits, and entertainment. This event has been very well received by the community. Sunday church service is provided by local church groups coming together.
