    July 4, All Day @ Lake Shawnee

    The Spirit of Kansas Festival is an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration held at Lake Shawnee. The celebration begins at 11am with food, arts and craft vendors, Blues Festival, and a water-ski show from 6:30-7:45pm followed by the magnificent fireworks display starting at 10pm.

  5. Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame

    July 13, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Lake Shawnee Event Center

    The Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame announces the following inductees for 2015: former Washburn University head baseball coach Steve Anson; Silver Lake American Legion Post 160 baseball coordinator Mike Burton; former minor league and semi-pro outfielder Gil Carter; former major league outfielder and Topeka minor league team owner/manager, Dick Cooley; umpire John “Big Dawg” Deedrick; former sports writer Bob Hentzen; and, the youth baseball organization, Highland Park Baseball Association (now known as the Topeka Baseball and Softball Association). Tickets can be purchased at the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Office at Lake Shawnee, or the Seabrook Apple Market at 1945 SW Gage. Proceeds benefit the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Foundation for youth baseball programs and facilities maintenance at Bettis Family Sports Complex.

  6. Concert at Garfield Park

    July 13, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Garfield Community Center

    Concert will be held at the Garfield Park gazebo. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner and enjoy family time in a beautiful park setting.

    We're celebrating National Park & Recreation month with FREE paddle boat rides, and the Topeka Metro Bike Share Program will be there to promote the bike share program.

    Bring your family out for this fun-filled evening to listen to some wonderful local artists performing at their best. Bring your own lawn-chair and enjoy the beautiful Old Prairie Town setting, while listening to some great music! This is a family friendly event and children are welcome!

    Join us for a wonderful afternoon of live music and entertainment, crafts, food and fishing for the kids. We will have a variety of activities available for the entire family.

    July 31, 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM @ Bettis Family Sports Complex

    We're celebrating National Park & Recreation month with Movie Under the Stars! Bring the entire family out to the Bettis Family Sports Complex and enjoy watching the Big Screen Under the Stars! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions are available; no outside food and beverage allowed.
