2017 Shawnee County Allied Tribes Traditional Intertribal Pow Wow -- Lake Shawnee
The 27th Annual Shawnee County Allied Tribes Intertribal Pow Wow is set for Sept. 1-3 in Tinman Circle at Lake Shawnee. Native Americans and others from around the country will celebrate Native American culture and customs including dancing and singing. Huff 'n Puff Balloon Rally -- Lake Shawnee
Shawnee County Parks Recreation is proud to be a sponsor of the 2017 Huff ‘n Puff Balloon Rally Sept. 8-10 in Tinman Circle at Lake Shawnee. Balloon flights are scheduled for Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning. Balloon Glows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights. Outdoor Kansas for Kids Day – Shawnee North Community Park
Do you like outdoor activities? Do you want to win prizes? Outdoor Kansas for Kids Day is the day for you! Join Shawnee County Parks & Recreation in a day full of activities such as nature art, animal print casting, water testing, archery and much more! Join us at the nature trail in Shawnee North Community Park Sept. 23, 10 a.m. to Noon.

Apple Festival -- Old Prairie Town/Ward-Meade Historic Site

Apple Festival is a two-day event in 2017 -- Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Old Prairie Town/Ward-Meade Historic Site. The Wheatstock musical performances are now a part of Apple Festival.
Enjoy arts and crafts, heritage food, a quilt show, railroad hand car rides, a petting zoo and, of course, apple pie, apple cider, apple fritters and more. New this year are the LeCompton Reenactors and the Kansas Muzzleloading Association.
Admission: $10 advance two-day tickets. $5 advance single day tickets. $7 tickets at the gate. Children age 5 and under free. Tickets available at Dillons, Mulvane General Store at Old Prairie Town or the Shawnee County Parks & Recreation Administration Annex 1800 SE 21st Street.
