TOPEKA, KAN. – Dornwood Spray Park and Jackson Spray Park will open May 13 and Shawnee County Parks + Recreation aquatic centers and pools will open May 27 for Memorial Day Weekend. The Lake Shawnee Adventure Cove also opens May 27. Dornwood Spray Park is located at 2500 E. Highland and Jackson Spray Park is located at SE 8th and Lake.

New this year is that patrons will be allowed to bring in their own cooler for a $10 charge. Alcohol is still prohibited. Common at public aquatic centers and pools in other communities, this enables families to bring their own food and drink rather than purchasing food and drink at concession stands.
Blaisdell Family Aquatic Center’s diving well will be closed and the diving boards and drop slides will be unavailable May 27-28 to accommodate for lifeguard training again this year. Admission prices will be reduced to $4 for youth and $5 for adults during these two days. Blaisdell will also be closed for Topeka Swim Association's annual Beach Bash June 2-4.
