Shawnee County Parks & Recreation employs more than 200 lifeguards and seasonal managers along with aquatic cashiers to operate our 8 aquatic centers and pools each summer.
How to apply?

- Intermittent Lifeguard
- Intermittent Aquatic Cashier
- Typical hiring season ranges from February 1st to early/mid May
Lifeguarding Requirements:
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Must pass swim test
- Must obtain American Red Cross Lifeguarding & First Aid Certification
- This certification is provided for free by Shawnee County Parks & Recreation to Shawnee County lifeguards
- Uniform including suit, whistle, and rescue pack are provided
Aquatic Cashier Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be able to handle and count money
